The question is not whether we enjoy the kīrtana, but whether we are serving the Holy Name. There is a subtle spirit of serving that has to be cultivated. Those who enjoy singing Hare Kṛṣṇa are called sahajiyās, whereas those who perform kīrtana as service to the Holy Name of Kṛṣṇa are devotees.

One cannot get bhāva-bhakti or prema-bhakti by mere sādhana (practice). What you get is pure devotion. You can become a pure devotee by sādhana bhakti. But many times it is confused that pure devotion and prema (love) are synonymous. Before you get love of Kṛṣṇa, you have to be pure. You have to become a pure devotee.

Śrī Rūpa-mañjarī-pada is the favourite song of all the disciples of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura. It is their favourite song, firstly because it is this song that offers one the connection of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī and is therefore of great importance to all Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas. It is also important to the disciples of Sarasvatī Ṭhākura because it was sung at the time of his departure from this world.

Just as Rādhārāṇī is dear to Kṛṣṇa, so too is the place of Rādhārāṇī's bath, Rādhā-kuṇḍa, most dear to Kṛṣṇa. Among all the gopīs, She is the Supreme. She is the Lord's most beloved.

Devotion requires the ability to discern what is material and what is spiritual. Not everything that looks or feels spiritual is genuinely so. Sincerity and humility help us identify the real path, avoiding distractions like shadow Kṛṣṇa, shadow nāma, shadow līla, and shadow prema, which mislead the insincere.

To surrender to Kṛṣṇa directly, to surrender to the Holy Name, that is very difficult, almost impossible and not very pleasing to Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa has no necessity of that. However, there is a necessity to serve a Vaiṣṇava, to serve the representatives, Kṛṣṇa’s intimate devotees. That is an indispensable part of surrender.

For the holy name to take effect, in the Garuḍa Purāṇa, ten offences to the holy name are listed that must be avoided. One should simply avoid them. It is not difficult. One or two take a little more practice than the others. The last one is the biggest hangup. The first one is the worst of all, but it is very easy to avoid that. So these are the ten offences to be avoided while chanting of the holy name.

Through Mahāprabhu one can understand everything — what we are, who we are, where we come from, and what is the purpose of our existence? All fulfillment of the soul can be achieved at the Lotus feet of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. This is the bold proclamation of His devotees.

Initiation is a noble prospect that you are put in connection with. But so much will have to come from our side, the disciple, in order to progress.

Not to minimise the rāsa-līla of Kṛṣṇa, but one should not jump over all that Kṛṣṇa has said, and all that Kṛṣṇa has done, and arrive at the most esoteric part of Kṛṣṇa's līla. If one does this, then one will face problems and even possible destruction.

Don't feel satisfied, try to feel an increased necessity. Within this hankering comes the feeling of fulfillment also. Just fulfillment, as it stands alone, is not in our favor. It will not bring us and keep us in touch with the devotees in this life. It will not enable us to substantially remain in touch with our guru after he departs from this world.

If someone says I accept the divinity of Mahāprabhu but not the divinity of Nityānanda Prabhu, then he is a philosopher of this half-hen philosophy. The whole thing is spoiled. So from Nityānanda Prabhu, our fortune begins.
