Srila Sridhara Maharaja's Appearance Day Festival

On October 31st, devotees celebrated the 115th appearance festival of Srila Bhakti Raksaka Sridhara Deva Gosvami Maharaja in a grand manner.

In the afternoon there were bhajanas glorifying guru-tattva, folowed by a class by HH Giri Maharaja. Maharaja spoke about the various contributions of Srila Sridhara Maharaja, in particular his clarification of jiva-tattva, his explanation of the brahma gayatri-mantra and his emphasis on the crest jewel of all siddhantic conclusions, radha-dasyam.

Next, Jagadisvara Prabhu spoke and explained more about Srila Sridhara Maharaja's lucid explanations on jiva-tattva and how Srila Sridhara Maharaja's conceptions make so much sense to the aspiring sadhaka. he also explained how Srila Sridhara Maharaja had spoke on the necessity of the quality of humility that an acarya must manifest.

After the class the devotees took Srila Sridhara Maharaja's photograph on procession on a palki (palanquin) amidst hari-nama sankirtana. Devotees were so enthusiastic that this program went on for quite some time.

Balarama Prabhu then offered guru-puja to Srila Sridhara Maharaja as devotees sang Sri Guru Arati and offered puspanjali to His Divine Grace.

After observing Damodarastakam and offering a lamp to Sri Sri Radha-Madhava, devotees honored a feast cooked by Dhira-lalita Mataji, Syamasundara Prabhu, Jagadisvara Prabhu, Gaura-Gopala Prabhu and Rupanuga Prabhu.
