Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja 2010

Govindaji Gardens
Sep 11 2010 - Event

Devotees celebrated Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja at the puspa-samadhi in Govindaji Gardens. In the morning bhajanas were sung in remembrance of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada. Madhava Maharaja then led the devotees in singing Narottama Dasa Thakura's song Vaisnava Vijnapti.  Jagadisvara Prabhu was then asked to speak about Srila Prabhupada. Jagadisvara made some very pertinent points concerning guru-tattva and explained how the real worship of Sri Guru is not messianic cult worship, but following the siddhanta given by the guru and the previous acaryas. He also read some verses from the first canto of Srimad Bhagavatam that exemplified the mood and character of Srila Prabhupada.

Next, Dhira-lalita Mataji spoke and shared her realizations on guru-tattva with the devotees. One of the points she explained was that those who are very close to Sri Guru are indeed very fortunate but they must always be cautious to avoid the offence of becoming too familiar with the spiritual master. She also told of her first meeting with Srila Prabhupada in Paris in 1973 and finally read a poem that she had composed for the occasion glorifying His Divine Grace.

The program ended with the offering of arati and puspanjali by all the assembled Vaisnavas.
