Srila Prabhupada's disappearance festival was celebrated by devotees at the asrama on Wednesday October 29th. Srila Prabhupada's puspa-samadhi was beautifully decorated in the morning after mangala-arati with many colorful garlands.
At 10:00am Srila Narasingha Maharaja gave class on the veranda of the samadhi and spoke at length about Srila Prabhupada's life, from his boyhood, to his meeting Srila Sarasvati Thakura, his taking sannyasa and his leaving to the west. He explained in detail how Srila Prabhupada was perfect in every way - just as he was a perfect guru, he was also a perfect disciple of his Guru Maharaja.
After the class Srila Visnu Maharaja offered arati to Srila Prabhupada as devotees sang 'Sri Guru Carana Padma' and offered puspanjali to Srila Prabhupada's shoes. The program ended in a feast at 1:00pm.
Later in the evening, after singing Damodarastakam, the devotees assembled in the kirtana hall to hear Srila Visnu Maharaja give class. Maharaja spoke about the qualities of a pure devotee and mentioned how during his crossing the Atlantic Ocean Srila Prabhupada had two heart attacks. These 'heart attacks' have been explained by Srila Narasingha Maharaja to be Lord Nityananda Prabhu entering Srila Prabhupada's body to empower him to preach Krsna Consciousness all over the world.
At 7:20pm , the time when Srila Prabhupada left this world on Nov. 14, 1977, Srila Narasingha Maharaja offered arati to Srila Prabhupada as Srila Prabhupada's arati song was sung. After, Madhava Maharaja led the devotees in singing "Srila Prabhupada Lila Smarana Mangala Stotram" and Srila Narasingha Maharaja concluded by elucidating some of the verses to the devotees.
