Janmasthami observances in the ashram started with Mangala aratika and a class by Swami B. B. Visnu on the unique qualities and birth of Lord Sri Krsna.
Throughout the day bhajans were performed, many preparations were cooked and the temple was decorated with flowers. In the evening, an abhiseka of Kaliya-Mardhana Krsna with panchamrta took place, accompanied by bhajans.
The abhiseka was followed by readings from the tenth canto of Srimad Bhagavatam on the appearance of Lord Krsna. A class for guests was given by Swami Visnu and translated into Kannada by Gaura Nararaja Dasa. Following the class, thirty-eight preparations were offered to Kaliya-Mardhana Krsna and an aratika conducted, followed by sumptuous prasadam distribution to the guests and the devotees.
