The most auspicious month of Karttika, also known as Damodara Masa, began on 26th October. During this month devotees offer lamps to the Deities and sing the Damodarastakam prayers. Srila Sridhara Maharaja describes the month of Karttika as follows:
"This is a special month in which we shall try our best to cultivate all of our feelings and regulate them for the attainment of our intimate connnection with Krsna. By investing our energy even in a small way during Karttika we can get more results."
