On Sunday 14th July, devotees at Govindaji Gardens celebrated Lord Jagannatha's Ratha-yatra Festival.
In the early evening there were bhajanas followed by a lecture by Sripada Visnu Maharaja and Giri Maharaja.
Visnu Maharaja spoke on the internal meaning of Ratha-Yatra and of Mahaprabhu's dancing in front of the ratha during the festival in Puri.
Giri Maharaja spoke on the significance of Mahaprabhu's dancing in front of Jagannatha, the mood of Mahaprabhu and Jagannatha, as well as the position of Srila Svarupa-damodara Gosvami.
After the lecture devotees eagerly gathered to pull the ropes of Jagannatha's ratha and while the ratha was taken around the temple devotees loudly chanted the Holy Names and fireworks were let off.
This was followed by gaura-arati and a sumptuous feast which was offered to Lord Jagannatha, including sweet-dahl, khajas, laddus, pakoras, puspanna rice and rasayana.
