Śrīla Narasiṅgha Mahārāja talks about which books to read when one is still situated on the platform of sambandha-jñāna and explains how Bhagavad-gītā & Īśopaniṣad give inspiration to cross over material existence. He further explains how Bhāgavatam is for the devotees, and Gita is for preaching, and that Śrīla Prabhupāda based his preaching success on Gītā, not simply on līlā-kathā.
Narasiṅgha Mahārāja recommends reading Bhajana Rahasya by Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura for some of the older devotees, as well as Caitanya-caritāmṛta which is the most important book for Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas. He discusses how Sarasvatī Ṭhākura explained how the remembrance of kṛṣṇa-līlā must be done through the Holy Name, and also explains how the mind and intelligence work, as well as the body and ātmā, according to Bhagavad-gītā.
