In this talk given on the occasion of Puṣya Abhiṣeka on 25th January 2005, Swami B.G. Narasiṅgha speaks about the glories and history of Lord Jagannātha in Purī.
Mahāraja explains how so many sampradayas and religious traditions have worshipped Jagannatha for centuries as Ādi-Buddha or Viṣṇu, but the Gauḍīyas worship Him as Kṛṣṇa in a most deep and meaningful mood.
Narasiṅgha Mahārāja also tells a story by Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja about a famous devotee of Jagannātha and explains the deeper meaning behind it.
Mahārāja discusses why the British missionaries wanted to malign Jagannātha, and how the karmic result of that was that the Ratha Yātrā is celebrated in every country in the world. He also briefly discusses the significance of Ratha-Yatra.
He also discusses how Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is in the mood of the greatest devotee of Kṛṣṇa, Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī. Mahārāja then says something about Mahāprabhu’s Śikṣāṣṭakam prayers and the worship of Śrī Śrī Gaura-Gadādhara.
