Disappearance Observance of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta PrabhupadaThe Tirobhava mahosatva (disappearance day celebration) of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada was celebrated by all the devotees present, by a half day fast, puspanjali (flower offerings to the spiritual masters' lotus feet), aratika and a very nice class, given by 2 resident svamis Srila BB Visnu Maharaja and Sripada BV Giri Maharaja. The talk highlighted the unique and distinct contributions of the most stalwart and original acarya in our sampradaya and the prominence he gave our line lives on through his disciples. As the absolute defender of the pure line of devotional service coming down from Srila Rupa Gosvami Prabhupada we all owe him our eternal respect and worship. Fools try to minimize him for their own glorification ever since he appeared, yet his preaching endures today untouched by the many jealous detractors. His position in the world of spiritual life in India during the early 1900s was emphasized and celebrated as being such a bold and unique personality, yet he always 100% preached the truth no matter what the cost or risk to his own person. He challenged all comers everytime. He defeated all the apasampradayas (bogus lines of devotional service) and fought with all who dared to stand in his way, sahajiyas, mayavadis and even the nationalists of the day, for his mission was urgent and unstoppable. The feast afterwards was grand and sumptuous, and after a half day of fasting everyone was ready to relish the wonderful prasadam. 17 different preparations were offered; vegetable rice, puris & chapatis, cheese pakoras, tamarind chutney, chickpea subji, cauliflower and potato subji, raita (cucumber salad), - and 2 favorites of Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada - rasam (spicy tomato dahl) and fried mung dahl. Then, came the sweets.... gulab jamuns, lemon cake, carob cake, ginger cookies, sweet rice, cashew burfis and halava... all washed down with a ginger drink to aid our digestion! For those who partook deeply of this feast, much reflection on this extraordinary mercy was required, for some that meant a bit of a rest.

September Srila
Bhakti Promoda Puri Goswami Appearance Observance In the early morning after singing bhajanas, Srila Narasingha Maharaja began to read from a lecture of Srila Puri Maharaja wherein he narrates his life story. Srila Narasingha Maharaja also spoke at length about how even though the parsadas of the Lord are eternally liberated, they still consider themselves completely dependant upon the mercy of Sri Guru. Next, Srila Visnu Maharaja read from an offering to Srila Puri Maharaja and spoke about the outstanding quality of humility that Srila Puri Maharaja showed as well as the many other good qualities exhibited by such great devotees. Arjuna Dasa, a direct disciple of Srila Puri Maharaja, narrated some instructive incidents of his Gurudeva that stood out in his mind and shared his memories with the devotees. After Arjuna had spoken Srila Narasingha Maharaja spoke again briefly of some of his personal experiences with Srila Puri Maharaja. A sumptous feast was then offered to Srila Puri Maharaja.
Sri Radhastami Mahotsava At Sri Narasingha Caitanya Matha, the devotees observed a wonderful festival commemorating Srimati Radharani's appearance on Friday September 1st. Srimati Radharani in known as 'Nilambari' (one who is clad in blue) and thus, Sri Sri Gaura-Radha-Madhava were dressed in beautiful blue clothes and gorgeously decorated with garlands, leaves and flowers. After darsana-arati and bhajanas to Srimati Radharani, Srila Narasingha Maharaja spoke on how divine personalities appear on this world and narrated the lila of Srimati Radharani's appearance as the daughter of Maharaja Vrsabhanu and Kirtida-devi. He then spoke in length on the 64 arts and explained how Srimati Radharani is expert in all of these because of Her desire to please Sri Krsna. After the class, most of the asrama devotees went to the kitchen to help cook a feast which was later offered to Sri Sri Radha-Madhava and honored by the Vaisnavas.
Visiting Friends in Europe and the USA Maharaja then went on to Germany, paying a visit to Sripada Paramadvaiti Maharaja and devotees in Berlin who were preparing for their Deity Installation of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna. While in Germany, Maharaja visited Haladhara Prabhu’s farm in Northern Germany as well. Maharaja gave several classes while in Berlin, which will be made available online soon. From Germany, Maharaja flew to America, where Jayadeva Prabhu and family hosted him in Vermont. During his stay, Maharaja met with various devotees there. Before returning to Europe, Maharaja made a short visit to Florida. On the 1st of August, Jayadeva Prabhu joined Srila Narasingha Maharaja and Madhava Maharaja as they went to Hungary for the European Vaisnava Mela. For the 11th conscecutive year, the devotees in Hungary have put together a wonderful gathering of devotees and this year Maharaja had the opportunity to attend the mela. The programs were held at Nandaflalva, near Zeged, where Sripada Bhakti Abhaya Narayana Maharaja (disciple of Srila Prabhupada and Sannyasa disciple of Srila Sridhara Maharaja) established a wonderful Vaisnava farm community in the 1980s before his untimely departure from the material world in 1993. Srila Narasingha Maharaja paid his heartfelt pranamas to his dear God-brother at the Samadhi Mandira and spoke of Sripada B.A. Narayana Maharaja’s wonderful service to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Sridhara Deva Gosvami Maharaja. Sripada B.A. Narayana Maharaja was a revolutionary preacher who went to great lengths to spread Krsna Consciousness throughout Eastern European countries during and after their communist rule. Maharaja gave classes there at the farm in the beautiful temple built by Sripada Paramadvaiti Maharaja (who is now acarya of the mission) and the disciples of Sripada B.A. Narayana Maharaja, Sripada Paramadvaiti Maharaja, Krsnananda Prabhu and H.H Bhakti Kamala Tirtha Maharaja (who is a disciple of Sripada B.A. Narayana Maharaja and has another farm project nearby) Visiting Sripada Bhakti Kamala Tirtha Maharaja next, Srila Narasingha Maharaja and devotees spent some quality time with Tirtha Maharaja, discussing krsna-katha, taking prasadam and touring his new project. H.H. Tirtha Maharaja has a wonderful temple and land in an area called Swan Lake, which is approx 1.5 hrs drive from Nandafalva. Tirtha Maharaja continues to preach in universities, publish their Hungarian Magazine (Kagylokurt) and travels to other Eastern European countries regularly for preaching, following his Guru Maharaja’s direction. From Hungary, Narasingha Maharaja and devotees went to Switzerland where they stayed for a week before returning to India for Janmastami and the Vyasa Puja festivals. The trip was meant to locate a suitable area to begin an asrama for Srila Narasingha Maharaja’s western preaching. While there, Maharaja and devotees spent time touring the country of Switzerland from corner to corner. With Krsna’s grace, that project should manifest within this next year! Maharaja will be back in Europe again for a longer stay this Winter/Spring.

Then, Srila Narasingha Maharaja spoke on the 26 qualities of a devotee and elaborated on each of the qualities giving examples from Srila Prabhupada’s life, showing how His Divine Grace naturally had all these divine symptoms. The program ended with arati, puspanjali and an amazing prasadam feast offered to Srila Prabhupada.
Janmastami
Celebrations In the morning, after devotees had finished decorating the asrama with flower garlands, everyone took darsana of Sri Sri Gaura-Radha-Madhava who were dressed in a beautiful yellow and white dress and decorated profusely with garlands and flowers. This years Janmastami festival was especially wonderful because Govindaji Gardens was graced with the divine presence of Kaliya-mardana Krsna, the presiding Deity of our asrama at Mulki. Srila Narasingha Maharaja gave the morning class and explained how divine truth is surpressed by the cheating propensity. He also spoke on the difference between eternal Vaisnava dharma and kaitava-dharma (man-made cheating religions). After the class the devotees sang bhajanas in glorification of Sri Krsna up until 3:00 pm when a traditional nagesvaram group played for the pleasure of the Deities. At 5:30, Srila Narasingha Maharaja began the abhiseka ceremony and bathed the Deity of Kaliya-mardana Krsna. The Lord was offered puspanjali (flowers) and arati before being bathed in 50 auspicious substances. The Lord was then dressed and brought to His palaki (palanquin) and taken around the temple accompanied by the devotees and guests and serenaded by nagesvaram, flute and the Holy Name of the Lord. After being taken around the temple eight times, the Lord returned to the altar and was offered maha-arati. About five-hundred kilograms of rice were cooked to feed the 9,000 guests throughout the day. At 11:45 naivedya was offered to Sri Sri Radha-Madhava. Over 120 different preparations were offered to Their Lordships. Then the midnight arati was offered by Srila Narasingha Maharaja while devotees performed nama-sankirtana led by Sripada Madhava Maharaja. The whole program concluded with prasadam distribution at 12:30. |
