The Shri Narasingha Chaitanya Matha is a devotional sanctuary (ashrama) situated on the banks of the sacred Kaveri River in South India. The ashrama and its activities were established by the Shri Chaitanya Charitable Society of Mysore under the inspiration of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktirakshaka Sridhara Deva Goswami Maharaja. The theology and ideals of the ashrama are in the line of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya stemming from the 15th century Krishna avatara, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and His immediate disciples, the Six Goswamis. The sole purposes and intentions of establishing the ashrama are to practice the regulative principles of suddha-bhakti, pure devotional service, and to avail those teachings to sincere and interested souls. The ashrama also undertakes various programs to improve the environmental conditions of the surrounding area, such as Kaveri River clean ups, environmental awareness outreach in local villages, training in organic gardening, training in cow protection and establishing alternative energy sources with little or no environmental impact. |
